{"id":29610,"date":"2018-10-26T11:28:18","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T05:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=29610"},"modified":"2018-10-26T11:28:18","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T05:58:18","slug":"despite-cas-closure-u-k-to-continue-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/despite-cas-closure-u-k-to-continue-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"Despite CA\u2019s closure, U.K. to continue investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-international\/despite-cas-closure-uk-to-continue-investigation\/article23765449.ece\">Despite CA\u2019s closure, U.K. to continue investigation<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What has happened?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The closure of Cambridge Analytica (CA) and the associated firm SCL Elections will not have any impact on two U.K. investigations into the data analytics company.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Investigations to continue irrespective of the closure of the firm<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Britain\u2019s Information Commissioner\u2019s Office, which is investigating SCL Group and CA as part of a wider probe into the use of personal data and analytics in political campaigns and beyond, said it would continue its civil and criminal investigations and pursue individuals and directors \u201cas appropriate and necessary\u201d<\/li>\n<li>It will also monitor successor companies to \u201censure the public is safeguarded\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>List of unanswered questions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, the committee sent a strongly-worded letter to Facebook, with 40 questions that had not yet been answered in its testimony, and a deadline of May 11 for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to agree to give evidence directly to the panel before May 24, failing which a formal summons could be issued to him<\/p>\n<p><strong>Insolvency proceedings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CA said it and SCL Elections would be commencing insolvency proceedings after \u201cnumerous and unfounded\u201d accusations, vilification, and \u201csiege of media coverage\u201d had \u201cdriven away virtually all of the company\u2019s customers and suppliers\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite CA\u2019s closure, U.K. to continue investigation What has happened?
