The Indian Naval Ship Kiltan received a warm reception from the Royal Brunei Navy upon its arrival in Muara, Brunei.<\/p>\n

About<\/strong><\/td>\n1. INS Kiltan is a state-of-the-art indigenous warship<\/span> which is set to be commissioned into the Indian Navy.
\n2. It is the third in the Kamorta-class corvettes<\/span> built under Project 28.<\/span>
\n3. It is named after an island in the Aminidivi group which is part of the strategically important Lakshadweep and Minicoy group of islands.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Designed and constructed by<\/strong><\/td>\nThe Indian Navy\u2019s Directorate of Naval Design and constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Features of INS Kiltan<\/strong><\/td>\n1. INS Kiltan is the first major Indian warship with a superstructure made from carbon fibre composite material, enhancing stealth, reducing weight, and cutting maintenance costs.<\/span>
\n2. INS Kiltan is outfitted with a variety of advanced and largely indigenous weapons and sensors.<\/span>
\na) This includes heavyweight torpedoes and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) rockets,<\/span> which are essential for its role in submarine defense.
\nb) The ship also features a 76 mm caliber medium-range gun and two multi-barrel 30 mm guns<\/span>, serving as close-in-weapon systems (CIWS)<\/span> with dedicated fire control systems to protect against incoming threats.
\nc) It is equipped with missile decoy rockets (Chaff)<\/span> for evasion maneuvers.
\nd) The ship incorporates an advanced Electronic Support Measure (ESM) system,<\/span> as well as a sophisticated bow-mounted sonar<\/span> and the Revathi air surveillance radar,<\/span> enhancing its detection and tracking capabilities.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Future enhancement<\/strong><\/td>\nIt has been planned to install a short-range Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) system<\/span> and will be equipped with an integral ASW helicopter.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Strategic Importance<\/strong><\/td>\na) It joins the lineage of indigenous warships like the Shivalik Class and Kolkata Class,<\/span> along with sister ships INS Kamorta and INS Kadmatt.<\/span>
\nb) It will provide a comprehensive operational picture<\/span> and bolster the Indian Navy’s combat capabilities.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
