It is also known as the<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> \u201criver of gold,\u201d<\/span> the Sunkoshi is located in Nepal and is part of the Koshi or Saptkoshi River system.<br \/>\n2. The Sunkoshi originates from the Zhangzangbo Glacier in Tibet.<br \/>\n2. It merges with the Saptkoshi River and eventually joins the Ganga (known as the Ganges) in the Katihar district of Bihar, India.<br \/>\n3. The Koshi River is a transboundary river that flows through China, Nepal, and India.<br \/>\n2. It serves as a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">prominent tributary of the Ganges.<\/span><br \/>\n3. The Kosi River has earned the nickname <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cthe sorrow of Bihar\u201d<\/span> due to its history of flooding and frequent alterations in its course as it flows from Nepal to Bihar<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 20.5664%;\"><strong>Course<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 79.3115%;\">1. It <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">originates from the Tibetan Plateau<\/span> and crosses the Himalayas and flows through the Mahabharat range and Siwalik hills.<br \/>\n2. It reaches the<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> plains of eastern Nepal and finally meets the Ganges in Bihar,<\/span> India.<br \/>\n3. The Kosi drains an area of 74,500 sq.km, with only 11,070 sq.km lying within Indian Territory. The Koshi River system <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">drains about 45% of Nepal.<\/span><br \/>\n4. The Kosi River valley is <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">bounded by steep margins,<\/span> disconnecting it from other rivers such as the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Yarlung Zangbo River, Mahananda River, Gandaki, and Ganga.<\/span><br \/>\n5. The Koshi River is known for its<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> tendency to change course,<\/span> often flowing westward.
