Organised by:<\/strong> The first-ever UN Global Supply Chain Forum,<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> organized by the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Government of Barbados,<\/span> was successfully held from<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> May 21 to 24, 2024, in Barbados.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. Purpose:<\/strong> The event brought together <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">over 1,000 participants<\/span> from around the globe<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> to address global disruptions, geopolitical tensions, climate change, <span style=\"color: #333333;\">and<\/span> the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on international trade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>3. Participants and Key Focus Areas:<\/strong> The forum included<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> trade and transport Ministers from various small island developing states (SIDS),<\/span> representatives from UN agencies, major global ports such as the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Port of Seattle, and leaders in the shipping and logistics sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>4. Initiatives and Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>a.<\/strong> A <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cManifesto for Intermodal, Low-Carbon, Efficient and Resilient Freight Transport and Logistics,\u201d <span style=\"color: #333333;\">was introduced<\/span><\/span>\u00a0which aims<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> to transform freight transport<\/span> to meet global climate goals and bolster socio-economic resilience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>b.<\/strong> The launch of the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">UN Trade and Development Trade-and-Transport Dataset<\/span>, developed with the World Bank.
