The river descends by 53 meters at Gokak Falls in Belgaum (Belagavi) District, Karnataka.<\/p>\n<p>5. The river basin spans 8,829 square kilometers, covering regions in both Karnataka and Maharashtra.<\/p>\n<p>6. <strong>Key tributaries<\/strong> of the Ghataprabha include the Hiranyakeshi River and the Markandeya River.<\/p>\n<h2>About Krishna River<\/h2>\n<p>1. The Krishna River is a prominent river in south-central India.<\/p>\n<p>2. The Krishna River rises in western Maharashtra, specifically in the Western Ghats near the town of Mahabaleshwar.<\/p>\n<p>3. It flows through the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, eventually emptying into the Bay of Bengal at Hamasaladeevi in Andhra Pradesh.<\/p>\n<p>4. The Krishna River Basin covers an area of about 258,948 square kilometers, accounting for nearly 8 percent of India&#8217;s total geographical area.<\/p>\n<p>5.
