Published by:<\/strong> UNICEF.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Objective:<\/strong> It examines the status, trends, inequities, and drivers of child food poverty in early childhood.<\/p>\n<p>3. It addresses the impact of global and local food and nutrition crises.<\/p>\n<p>4. It concentrates on low- and middle-income countries where most children experiencing food poverty reside.<\/p>\n<p>5. It explores the effects of child food poverty on undernutrition and poor development.<\/p>\n<p>6. UNICEF defines Child Food Poverty as children\u2019s inability to access and consume a nutritious and diverse diet in early childhood (first five years of life).<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0Highlights of the 2024 Report<\/h2>\n<p><strong>1. Global Impact:<\/strong> One in four children under age 5 worldwide (27% or 181 million) faces severe food poverty and is at risk of life-threatening malnutrition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Regional Distribution:<\/strong> Over two-thirds of the 181 million young children living in severe food poverty are in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Key Countries:<\/strong> 20 countries account for 65% of children living in severe food poverty:<br \/>\n&#8211; Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Somalia, South Africa, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Yemen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Household Impact:<\/strong> Children in both poor and non-poor households face severe food poverty.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.
