{"id":30067,"date":"2018-10-26T14:04:43","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T08:34:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=30067"},"modified":"2018-10-26T14:04:43","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T08:34:43","slug":"why-indian-firms-dont-innovate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/why-indian-firms-dont-innovate\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Indian firms don\u2019t innovate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-business\/why-indian-firms-dont-innovate\/article23476358.ece\"><strong>Why Indian firms don\u2019t innovate<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Context <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A large proportion of Indian companies just don\u2019t have the policy or human resource capabilities to invest in innovation though the country fares favourably in terms of research and development (R&amp;D) spending when compared with its peers, according to a top World Bank official<\/p>\n<p><strong>Issues: Why Indian companies don\u2019t innovate?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There aren\u2019t that many of the big and modern firms that are investing a huge amount in R&amp;D and the vast majority of firms in India don\u2019t have the capability to do R&amp;D<\/li>\n<li>Firms in India lack the capability to take a careful look at their basic plant layouts, can\u2019t make long-term plans, don\u2019t have an innovation strategy and don\u2019t have an HR (human resources) policy to staff their innovation strategy<\/li>\n<li>SMEs (small and medium enterprises) don\u2019t have a five-year plan, they don\u2019t have somebody keeping track of what new technology has come out of some place that they could bring to the firm.
