The affected districts are Koriya and Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), Dhanbad and Ramgarh (Jharkhand), and Angul and Jajpur (Odisha).<\/p>\n<p>3. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">65% of surveyed participants reported health issues<\/span> like chronic bronchitis, asthma, eczema, dermatitis, and fungal infections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Medical Expenses:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>i) Monthly medical bills per household ranged from \u20b9300 to \u20b91,000.<\/p>\n<p>ii) Average annual hospitalization expenses in Dhanbad were the highest at \u20b928,461 per household.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Vulnerability:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>i) Residents closer to coal mines are more vulnerable to health issues.<\/p>\n<p>ii) Dhanbad and Ramgarh reported higher incidences of lung and skin diseases due to more people living near mines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Economic Impact and Transition:<\/strong> The study focused on the &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">just transition<\/span>&#8216; from coal mining jobs. Transitioning away from coal is expected to cause significant job losses and economic downturns in coal-dependent regions.<\/p>\n<p>7. Social and economic disparities were noted, with varying income levels and irregular wage patterns.\u00a0Dhanbad and Koriya rely solely on coal production, reported lower incomes compared to diversified industrial districts like Angul.<\/p>\n<p>8.
