Mainland Serow<\/strong><\/td>\nA mammal that looks like a cross between a goat and an antelope. The mainland serow inhabits areas at altitudes of<\/span> 200 metres to<\/span> 3,000 metres<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Habitat<\/strong><\/td>\nSpecies of serow native to the Himalayas<\/span>, Southeast Asia<\/span> and China<\/span>. Bhutan is the natural home and habitat of mainland serow.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Characteristics<\/strong><\/td>\na. The mainland serow, both male and female, is around three feet high at the shoulder<\/span>, and typically weighs around 200 lb.
\nb. The mainland serow possesses guard hairs on its coat<\/span> that are bristly or coarse. These also cover the layer of fur closest to its skin.
\nc. The horns are only characteristic of the males<\/span> and are light-colored. These are approximately six inches in length<\/span>, and curve slightly towards the animal’s back<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Behaviour<\/strong><\/td>\nThe mainland serow is territorial and lives alone or in small groups<\/span>. Females give birth to a single young after a gestation period of about eight months<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Prominent Habitat in India<\/strong><\/td>\nIts habitat is across the border in the Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary<\/span>
