Why in News<\/h2>\n

India has expressed interest in co-producing the Stryker infantry vehicles and the Javelin anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM).<\/p>\n

Javelin Anti Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM)<\/h2>\n

1. The Javelin anti-tank weapon system is a premier, single-man-portable, medium-range missile system<\/span>.<\/p>\n

2. It measures roughly 1.2 m in length<\/span>, 127 mm in diameter<\/span>, and weighs 22.1 kg<\/span>. The missile carries a single 8.4 kg tandem-charge<\/span>, high-explosive antitank<\/span> (HEAT) warhead<\/span>. It has a qualified maximum range of 2,500<\/span>.<\/p>\n

3. It uses a \u201cfire-and-forget<\/span>\u201d principle, automatically guiding itself to the target after launch. This allows the gunner to take cover and avoid counter-fire.<\/p>\n
