Why in the news?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Recently, the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) and TransUnion CIBIL have launched the SEHER program<\/span>.<\/p>\n

About SEHER Program<\/h2>\n

1. Launched by:<\/strong> Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) and TransUnion CIBIL<\/p>\n

2. Aim:<\/strong> SEHER aims to increase financial awareness among women<\/span> entrepreneurs in India. The program also aims to promote the importance of a good credit history and CIBIL score <\/span>for easier access to finance.<\/p>\n

3. The program helps women understand and manage credit which is crucial for business growth.<\/p>\n

4. Key Goals of SEHER: <\/strong><\/p>\n

i) Financial Literacy:<\/strong> Educate women on financial topics,<\/span> including their CIBIL Rank and commercial credit reports.<\/p>\n

ii) Business Skills:<\/strong> Provide resources and training<\/span> to help women manage and grow their businesses.<\/p>\n

iii) Access to Finance:<\/strong> Help women understand how to access and manage credit<\/span> effectively.<\/p>\n

5. WEP\u2019s Role:<\/strong> WEP is a public-private partnership platform<\/span> incubated at NITI Aayog. It focuses on creating an ecosystem that supports women entrepreneurs.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. TransUnion CIBIL\u2019s Role:<\/strong> It provides financial insights and credit information.<\/span> It aims to improve the financial skills of women entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

7. Impact:<\/strong><\/p>\n

i) Business loan demand by women has grown 3.9 times<\/span> from FY 2019 to FY 2024.<\/p>\n

ii) 38% of the 1.5 crore borrowers with a business loan in March 2024 were women.<\/p>\n

iii) The portfolio balance for business loans by women grew at 35% CAGR<\/span> from March 2019 to March 2024.<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0 SEHER will offer personalized resources, financial literacy content, and tools<\/span> to women entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

Importance of Women Entrepreneurs in India:<\/h2>\n

i) India has 63 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with 20% owned by women.<\/p>\n

ii)\u00a0 Women-owned businesses employ around 27 million people.<\/p>\n

iii)\u00a0 Accelerating women’s entrepreneurship could create over 30 million new businesses and up to 170 million new jobs.<\/p>\n

About Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP):<\/h2>\n

i)\u00a0 WEP was established by NITI Aayog<\/span> in 2018<\/span> and became a public-private partnership in 2022.<\/p>\n

ii)\u00a0 WEP supports women entrepreneurs<\/span> by providing entrepreneurship promotion. access to finance, market linkages, training and skills development, mentoring and networking, and business development services.<\/p>\n

About TransUnion CIBIL:<\/h2>\n

i) TransUnion CIBIL is India\u2019s leading information and insights company.<\/span><\/p>\n

ii) It provides solutions to enhance economic opportunities and personal empowerment<\/span>. It serves banks, financial institutions, NBFCs, housing finance companies, microfinance companies, and insurance firms.<\/p>\n
