Let me know if you need more information! \ud83d\ude0a\">\n<div class=\"ac-container ac-adaptiveCard has-image\">\n<div class=\"ac-textBlock\">\n<h2>Why in the news?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recently, NITI Aayog released its fourth evaluation report of India\u2019s progress on the 16 sustainable development goals (SDGs) adopted in 2015 by all United Nations member countries.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">About SDG India Index Report<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1. It is released by NITI aayog.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. The SDG India Index evaluates progress made across 16 goals on a scale of 1 to 100.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Performance of the states in SDG India Index<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1.\u00a0 India&#8217;s SDG score improved to 71 points in 2023-24 from 66 points in 2020-21.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. Key Drivers:<\/strong> Progress in poverty reduction, economic growth, and climate action contributed to the improvement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>3. Top Performers:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>i) Kerala and Uttarakhand:<\/strong> Both states topped the SDG India Index with a score of 79 points each.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ii) Lowest Performers:<\/strong> Bihar was the worst performer with 57 points, followed by Jharkhand with 62 points.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>iii) Highest Gains:<\/strong> Punjab, Manipur, West Bengal, and Assam recorded the highest increases, each gaining 8 points to scores of 76, 72, 70, and 65 respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>4. Achievements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">i) The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">goal of reducing poverty<\/span> saw a significant increase in points.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">ii)\u00a0 There was notable progress in <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">achieving decent work and fostering economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">iii) Efforts to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">protect and manage life on land<\/span> also showed a substantial improvement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">iv)\u00a0 The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">goal of achieving gender equality<\/span> recorded the smallest increase in points.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">v)\u00a0 Similarly, the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">goal related to peace, justice, and strong institutions<\/span> saw minimal progress.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">vi) The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">goal of reducing inequalities<\/span> experienced a decline, dropping to 65 points in 2022-23 from 67 points in 2020-21.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>vii) Inequality Trends:<\/strong> Despite a marginal drop in the Reduced Inequalities goal, overall inequality in India has decreased. The gap in consumption between the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">richest 10%<\/span> and the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">bottom 10%<\/span> has contracted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>viii) Taxpayer Increase:<\/strong> The number of taxpayers has increased, indicating economic progress.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ix) Zero Poverty:<\/strong> Increased by <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">8 points to 72<\/span>, reflecting reduced extreme poverty and improved livelihoods across India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>x) Zero Hunger:<\/strong> Increased by <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">5 points to 52<\/span>, but further focus is needed on providing nutritious food to address malnourishment, stunting, and low BMI scores.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>5.
