These 46 years saw legal battles, controversies, and debates, on the Ratna Bhandar, or sacred treasury, of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.<\/p>\n<h2>About the Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar<\/h2>\n<p>The Jagannath Puri Temple Ratna Bhandar consists of two chambers- <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Bahar Bhandar<\/span> (outer chamber) and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Bhitar Bhandar<\/span> (inner chamber). These chambers contain the jewels of the three sibling deities- <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Lord Balabhadra<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Lord Jagannath<\/span>, and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Devi Subhadra<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Last Inventory Efforts-<\/strong> The inventory list was last prepared in 1978. It recorded a total of 454 gold articles with a net weight of 12,838 Bharis (128.38 kg) and 293 silver articles weighing 22,153 Bharis (221.53 kg).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Need for Opening the Ratna Bhandar-<\/strong> Concerns were raised about the structural stability of the Ratna Bhandar and the safety of ornaments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High Level Committee- <\/strong>The newly elected Government of Odisha constituted a high-level committee <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">under the chairmanship of former Orissa High Court judge Justice Biswanath Rath<\/span> (retd.) to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">supervise the process of cataloguing the valuables<\/span>. The Jagannath Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">god Jagannath<\/span>, a form of Vishnu in Hinduism.<\/p>\n<p>b. It is located in<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Puri<\/span> in the state of Odisha, situated on the eastern coast of India.\u00a0 As per temple records, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">King Indradyumna<\/span> of Avanti built the main temple of Jagannath at Puri.<\/p>\n<p>c. The temple is famous for its <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">annual Ratha Yatra<\/span>, or chariot festival, in which the three principal deities are pulled on huge and elaborately decorated raths, or temple cars.<\/p>\n<p>d. Unlike the stone and metal icons found in most Hindu temples, the image of Jagannath is made of wood, and is<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> ceremoniously replaced every 12 or 19 years by an exact replica<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>e. The temple is <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">sacred to all Hindus<\/span>, and especially in those of the Vaishnava traditions.
