Why in the news?<\/h2>\n

The Government of India under the Ministry of Culture has initiated the National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

About National Mission for Cultural Mapping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

About<\/td>\ni) The National Mission for Cultural Mapping was launched in 2017.
\nii) It was initiated by the Union Ministry of Culture.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Aim<\/td>\nThe mission aims to develop a comprehensive database of art forms, artists, and other cultural resources across India.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Village Documentation and Categories<\/td>\ni) The government has identified and documented distinctive features of over one lakh villages across the country.
\nii) Villages are broadly divided into seven to eight categories based on mythological, ecological, developmental, and scholastic importance.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Budget<\/td>\nIn 2017, the Culture Ministry approved a budget of \u20b9469 crores for the mission, intended to be used over a period of three years.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Field Surveys<\/td>\nDetailed field surveys were conducted by joint teams from the Culture Ministry and the Common Services Centres (CSC), which operate under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
