What is the strategy of Lakhpati Didi Initiative?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Lakhpati Didi-<\/strong> A Lakhpati Didi is a Self-Help Group member who earns an annual household income of Rupees One Lakh (Rs. 1,00,000) or more. This income is <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">calculated for at least four agricultural seasons<\/span> and\/or business cycles, with an average monthly income exceeding Rupees Ten Thousand (Rs. 10,000), so that it is sustainable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategy for Lakhapti Didi initiative<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0Deepening, Strengthening and Expansion of Livelihood options-<\/strong> Facilitating and enabling the households to take up <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">diversified income-generating activities<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Trained Community Resource Persons<\/span> to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">facilitate<\/span> the Livelihood Planning using a tool and uploading it to a digital platform for further consolidation and resource linkages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Implementation Support-<\/strong> Adequate and timely support is facilitated to the SHG members\/ Federations for Livelihood enhancement is provided in the form of-<br \/>\na. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Assets<\/span> (Input, equipment, infrastructure)<br \/>\nb. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Skills<\/span> (Knowledge and practical skills)<br \/>\nc. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Access to Finance<\/span> (Bank linkage, leveraging departmental schemes, Corporate Social Responsibility)<br \/>\nd. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Marketing Support<\/span> (Branding, Packaging, e-commerce etc.).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Convergence and Partnerships-<\/strong> Convergence with various schemes (Inter and Intra departmental) undertaken for mobilizing technical, and financial resources, and capacity building of SHG federations.<\/p>\n<p>Convergence between the schemes of Ministry of Rural Development (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">MoRD<\/span>), Ministry of Agriculture &amp; Farmers\u2019 Welfare (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">MoA&amp;FW<\/span>), Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">DAHD<\/span>), Ministry of Food Processing Industries (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">MoFPI<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Training and Capacity Building-\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Regular<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">structured capacity building<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">exposure<\/span> of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Mission staff<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">line department officials<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">community institutions<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">community cadre<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">resource persons<\/span> is undertaken.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a id=\"toc2\"><\/a>What is the Significance of Lakhpati Didi Initiative?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>1. Financial Empowerment of Women-<\/strong> The program targets to create <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">3 crore Lakhpati Didis by 2025<\/span>. By helping women attain a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">sustainable income of at least Rs. 1 lakh per annum<\/span>, the initiative enables them to become <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">financially independent<\/span> and improve their standard of living.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Employment-<\/strong> The Lakhpati Didi initiative encourages women to start micro-enterprises and become self-reliant. This entrepreneurial skill will help in generation of additional employment. <strong>For ex-<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Lakhpati Didis starting tailoring business after acquiring the necessary skills<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Role Models of Women Empowerment-<\/strong> Lakhpati Didis serve as an inspiration to the women community to empower themselves. They inspire other women through their <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">adoption of sustainable livelihood practices<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">achievement of a decent standard of life<\/span>. They serve as conduits for crucial financial literacy, skill development, and livelihood assistance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Rural Economic Development-<\/strong> The collective impact of empowered women entrepreneurs through Lakhpati Didi initiative contributes to the development of rural economy. <strong>For ex-<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Development of Kondagaon block of Chhattisgarh through the Lakhpati Didi intervention<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a id=\"toc3\"><\/a>What are the Challenges in the Creation of Lakhpati Didis?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>1. Skill Development and Training Gaps-<\/strong> Women in rural areas lack the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">necessary skills and education<\/span>. This creates a challenge for the scaling up of programs like Lakhpati Didis which aim to utilize skills of rural women.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Lack of Access to Financial Resources-<\/strong> Rural women face barriers in accessing credit and financial services. The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">lack of tailored financial products for rural women<\/span> hinders their ability to invest in and grow their businesses effectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Inadequate Market Linkages-<\/strong> Many women struggle to scale up their businesses due to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">inadequate market linkages<\/span>. This limits their ability to sell their products and achieve sustainable income levels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Cultural and Social Barriers-<\/strong> Women <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">face resistance from their families or communities<\/span>, in business operations. These barriers also hamper their engagement in the Lakhpati Didi initiatives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Poor Digital Infrastructure-<\/strong> Poor digital infrastructure in rural areas such as <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">low internet speed<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">latency<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">lack of adequate digital equipments<\/span> create further challenges for the successful implementation of Lakhpati Didi Initiative.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a id=\"toc4\"><\/a>What are the other Government initiatives for Women Empowerment?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<table style=\"width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: solid;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 25.2008%;\"><strong>Economic Empowerment<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 74.7992%;\">1. Governments has been promoting equal pay for equal work through the four <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">new labour codes<\/span>.<br \/>\n2. Government has established maternity leave and childcare policies through the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Maternity Benefit<\/span> (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Amendment<\/span>) <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Act 2017<\/span>.<br \/>\n3. It has also provided access to finance and entrepreneurship training for women, like the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Mudra Yojana<\/span> and the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Mahila Udyam Nidhi Yojana<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 25.2008%;\"><strong>Political Empowerment<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 74.7992%;\">1. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Nari Shakti Vandana Adhiniyam<\/span>(<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Women reservation Act<\/span>)- Passed to provide 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies.<br \/>\n2. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">73rd and 74th amendment Act<\/span>&#8211; Provided 33% reservation to women in local bodies. Some states like Bihar have increased the women reservation in the local bodies to 50%.<br \/>\n3. Effective Monitoring and Evaluation-<\/strong> Effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms are necessary to assess the impact of the initiative and make necessary adjustments. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Robust data collection<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">analysis<\/span> should be employed to understand the initiative&#8217;s effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.
