Why in News?<\/h2>\n

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy recently notified the Scheme Guidelines for implementing the \u2018Model Solar Village\u2019 under PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.<\/p>\n

Launched by<\/td>\n\u00a0Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Implementing Agency<\/td>\n1. The implementation of the ‘Model Solar Village’ scheme will be carried out by the State\/UT Renewable Energy Development Agency.<\/span>
\n2. The District Level Committee (DLC) will supervise<\/span> the process to ensure the selected villages effectively transition to solar-powered communities.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objective<\/td>\nThe initiative aims to establish one Model Solar Village in each district across India.<\/span> It will enable village communities to become self-reliant in meeting their energy needs through solar power.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Financial outlay<\/td>\n1. A total financial outlay of \u20b9800 crore has been allocated for the ‘Model Solar Village’ component.
\n2. Grant per Village:<\/strong> Each selected Model Solar Village will receive a central financial assistance grant of \u20b91 crore.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Eligibility<\/td>\n1. Eligibility:<\/strong> To be eligible, a village must be a revenue village<\/span> with a population of over 5,000, or 2,000 for special category states.
\n2. Competitive Mode:<\/strong> Villages will be selected through a competitive process.<\/span> In this process, they are checked six months after being declared a potential candidate by the District Level Committee (DLC) that how much overall Distributed Renewable Energy (RE) capacity have they added.
\n3. Winning Criteria:<\/strong> The village with the highest RE capacity<\/span> in each district will be declared the winner and will receive the \u20b91 crore grant.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

About PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana<\/h2>\n

1. PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was approved on 29th February 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Scheme Objective:<\/strong> The Yojana aims to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity.<\/p>\n

3. Focus:<\/strong> The scheme focuses on harnessing solar energy by installing solar panels on residential rooftops.<\/p>\n

4. This initiative is designed to promote renewable energy use, reduce electricity costs for households, and support environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n
