This has been done under the Private FM Radio Phase Ill Policy. This decision aims to fulfil the existing demand for FM radio in these areas.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">About the rollout of private FM radio channels in 234 cities and towns<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.theprint.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/ANI-20240828105404.jpg?resize=600%2C450&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"234 towns, cities to get private FM radio channels, Union Cabinet okays e-auction proposal \" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: The Print<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Cabinet has sanctioned an <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Annual Licence Fee<\/span> (ALF) for FM channels. It has been set at <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">4% of the gross revenue<\/span>, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST). This fee structure will apply to the newly added 234 cities and towns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Benefits of the Rollout:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>i) Enhanced Local Content and Cultural Promotion:<\/strong> The expansion is expected to introduce new and local content, particularly in native languages. It thereby promotes regional dialects and cultures. It also <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">aligns<\/span> with the &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">vocal for local<\/span>&#8216; initiative, emphasizing the importance of local products and services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ii) Employment and Economic Opportunities:<\/strong> The rollout of private FM radio channels is anticipated to create <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">new employment opportunities<\/span> in the broadcasting sector and related fields.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>iii) Focus on Aspirational and LWE-Affected Districts:<\/strong> Many of the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">newly approved locations<\/span> are in aspirational districts and areas affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE).
