{"id":30907,"date":"2018-10-27T11:23:25","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T05:53:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=30907"},"modified":"2018-10-27T11:23:25","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T05:53:25","slug":"pakistan-not-on-black-list-confirms-it-will-be-on-fatf-grey-list-in-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pakistan-not-on-black-list-confirms-it-will-be-on-fatf-grey-list-in-june\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan \u2018not\u2019 on black list, confirms it will be on FATF grey list in June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/international\/pakistan-confirms-it-will-be-on-fatf\/article22879934.ece\"><b>Pakistan \u2018not\u2019 on black list, confirms it will be on FATF grey list in June<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pakistan confirmed that it will be on the <\/span><b>grey list of Financial Action Task Force <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on Money Laundering (FATF) in June but disputed claims of being put on a black list.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>More in news:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lead Ministry for dealing with FATF\/ICRG is the Ministry of Finance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Secondly, the internal processes of FATF are confidential.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pakistan will be assigned to the <\/span><b>\u2018grey list\u2019 in June, once an Action Plan has been mutually negotiated.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, the statement that Pakistan will be transferred from the <\/span><b>\u2018grey\u2019 to the \u2018black\u2019 list in June is \u00a0not true.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FATF website clearly demarcates the countries in <\/span><b>\u2018black\u2019 list, as those who are non-cooperative.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, FATF has highlighted certain <\/span><b>deficiencies in the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering of Terrorist Financing (AML\/CFT) framework of Pakistan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a matter of fact, the government of Pakistan, over the last few years, has taken a number of measures to address these issues, including through <\/span><b>enactment of legislation, issuance of regulations and guidelines by SBP and SECP to the financial sector, establishment of the Financial Monitoring Unit and implementation of UNSC 1267 sanctions on the entities of concern.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>India being criticized:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India has been criticized because despite calls for restraint, <\/span><b>India continues to indulge in ceasefire violations. <\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Forign Office also criticized the Indian Motion Pictures Producers&#8217; Association decision to <\/span><b>uphold its ban on Pakistani artists, being caste in Indian media.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfortunately this decision, following several others, <\/span><b>including non-issuance of visas to Pakistani Zaireen, refusal to allow participation of Sikhs and Katas raj pilgrims and cancellation of sports matches <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">underscores the growing intolerance and bias prevalent in India exposing the shamocracy it is increasingly becoming.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pakistan \u2018not\u2019 on black list, confirms it will be on FATF grey list in June Context: Pakistan confirmed that it will be on the grey list of Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) in June but disputed claims of being put on a black list.
