{"id":30916,"date":"2018-10-27T11:26:47","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T05:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=30916"},"modified":"2018-10-27T11:26:47","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T05:56:47","slug":"manufacturing-sector-growth-falls-to-4-month-low-in-feb-pmi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/manufacturing-sector-growth-falls-to-4-month-low-in-feb-pmi\/","title":{"rendered":"Manufacturing sector growth falls to 4-month low in Feb.: PMI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Industry\/manufacturing-sector-growth-falls-to-4-month-low-in-feb-pmi\/article22881600.ece\"><b>Manufacturing sector growth falls to 4-month low in Feb.: PMI<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India\u2019s manufacturing sector activity fell to a four-month low in February, as factory output and new business orders rose at a slower pace, according to a monthly survey.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Nikkei India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Nikkei India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) fell to 52.1 in February from 52.4 in January, indicating a modest improvement in operating conditions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is for the seventh consecutive month that the index remained above the 50-point-mark that separates expansion from contraction.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Japanese financial services major Nomura, India\u2019s manufacturing PMI remained in the expansion zone, but suggested some consolidation after the rapid ramp up of activity in December.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In December 2017, the index had touched a 60-month high of 54.7.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Highlights of the survey:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the prices front, the survey said that cost inflation accelerated to the sharpest since February 2017, adding to expectations that inflationary risks will continue over the coming months.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The survey further noted that Indian manufacturers remained optimistic towards the 12-month outlook for output during February.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manufacturing sector growth falls to 4-month low in Feb.: PMI Context: India\u2019s manufacturing sector activity fell to a four-month low in February, as factory output and new business orders rose at a slower pace, according to a monthly survey.
