{"id":31065,"date":"2018-10-27T12:02:05","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T06:32:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=31065"},"modified":"2018-10-27T12:02:05","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T06:32:05","slug":"dots-plan-to-spur-synergy-among-7-psus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/dots-plan-to-spur-synergy-among-7-psus\/","title":{"rendered":"DoT\u2019s plan to spur synergy among 7 PSUs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/dots-plan-to-spur-synergy-among-7-psus\/article22828304.ece\"><b>DoT\u2019s plan to spur synergy among 7 PSUs<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The government unveiled a \u2018strategic plan\u2019 to enable seven state-owned companies under the Department of Telecom (DoT) to work closely with an aim of promoting <\/span><b>greater operational synergy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> among them.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Introduction:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These PSUs will also look at pooling in resources to address new business opportunities in Digital India, Smart City and Internet of things, and develop mechanism for sharing of revenues and expenses.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plan also includes effective utilization of human resources as well as land and building.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Action plan:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The action plan covers MTNL, BSNL, Indian Telephone Industries (ITI), Centre for Development of Telematics (CDOT), Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd. (TCIL), Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipments (TEC) and BharatNet (BBNL).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the plan, government has identified specific areas where teams will work on including manpower, settlement of legal issues and utilisation of vacant space.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, there were no plans to merge BSNL and MTNL for now.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> MTNL shares rose 7.78% to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20b9<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">24.25 per share while the ITI scrip climbed 2.13% to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20b9<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">126.90 on the BSE.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The strategic plan, finalised after several discussions between all stakeholders, entails effective utilisation of human resources, optimum use of vacant space and promoting \u2018Make in India\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Training manpower<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some units have excess manpower whereas others face a shortage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the plan, the Centre intended to train and redeploy manpower.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The strategic roadmap will also cover other areas such as standards and certification, and preparing to tap opportunities in areas like 5G and Internet of Things.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DoT\u2019s plan to spur synergy among 7 PSUs Context: The government unveiled a \u2018strategic plan\u2019 to enable seven state-owned companies under the Department of Telecom (DoT) to work closely with an aim of promoting greater operational synergy among them.
