Why in News?<\/h2>\n

Recently, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah introduced ‘White Revolution 2.0’. The initiative is part of an action plan to form and strengthen 2 lakh new Multipurpose Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (MPACS), along with dairy and fishery cooperatives. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on “cooperation among cooperatives” was also released during the event.<\/p>\n

About White Revolution 2.0<\/h2>\n

1. Aim:<\/strong> It aimed at enhancing milk production and empowering women through cooperative dairies.This initiative also aims to combat malnutrition by increasing the availability of milk.<\/p>\n

2. Focus:<\/strong> Women Empowerment and Malnutrition. The scheme would empower women engaged in milk procurement by formalizing their work and ensuring payments directly to their bank accounts.<\/p>\n

3. Objectives of White Revolution 2.0:<\/strong><\/p>\n

i) Increase in Milk Procurement:<\/strong> The scheme targets increasing milk procurement by cooperatives from the current 660 lakh litres per day to 1,000 lakh litres.<\/p>\n

ii)Financial Inclusion of Women:<\/strong> The inclusion of women in formal employment within the dairy sector will be facilitated by depositing earnings from milk procurement directly into their bank accounts.<\/p>\n

Four Pillars of the Programme:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Empowering Women Farmers:<\/strong> Ensuring greater participation and self-reliance for women in the agricultural and dairy sectors.<\/p>\n

2. Enhancing Local Milk Production:<\/strong> Boosting domestic milk production to meet local demand.<\/p>\n

3. Strengthening Dairy Infrastructure:<\/strong> Improving the infrastructure needed to support dairy farming and milk processing.<\/p>\n

4. Boosting Dairy Exports:<\/strong> Focusing on increasing India\u2019s dairy exports to international markets.<\/p>\n
