The Spices Board is autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the development and worldwide promotion of Indian spices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2. It was constituted in 1987 under the Spices Board Act 1986 with the merger of the erstwhile Cardamom Board (1968) and Spices Export Promotion Council (1960).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">3.. The board&#8217;s primary functions include the regulation of the quality and marketing of spices and the development of spice crops through research, development, and promotion of Indian spices both domestically and internationally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">4. It is responsible for the export promotion of the 52 scheduled spices and development of Cardamom (Small &amp; Large).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1. R&amp;D:<\/strong> Improves spice cultivation, processing, and packaging through research.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. Quality Control:<\/strong> Maintains international standards and offers certifications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>3. Export Promotion:<\/strong> Boosts global spice exports via financial aid and trade events.]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>4. Innovation:<\/strong> Supports value-added spice products like oils and extracts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>5. Market Intelligence:<\/strong> Shares data on spice production, prices, and trends.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">About SPICED scheme<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1. Launched by:<\/strong> Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. Aim:<\/strong> <span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">The SPICED scheme aims to:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body)); text-align: justify;\">Drive innovation and sustainability in the spice sector.<br \/>\nImprove value addition for spices and spice products.<br \/>\nEnhance the productivity of cardamom (both small and large varieties).<br \/>\nUpgrade post-harvest quality standards of spices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">3. <strong>Duration:<\/strong> <span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">The scheme will be implemented during the 15th Finance Commission cycle, ending in FY 2025-26.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Beneficiary Focus:<\/strong> The scheme prioritizes assistance to farmers\u2019 Groups (FPOs, FPCs, SHGs), SC\/ST Communities and SMEs (Particularly from the North-Eastern regions) and Exporters.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Key Programs Under the Scheme:<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1. Mission Value Addition:<\/strong> Focuses on enhancing the value-added production of spices for export.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Mission Clean and Safe Spices:<\/strong> It aims to improve post-harvest processes, ensuring clean, safe, and exportable spices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Promotion of GI (Geographical Indication) Spices:<\/strong> It supports branding and marketing of GI-tagged spices both domestically and globally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>4.
