{"id":31155,"date":"2018-10-27T12:21:58","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T06:51:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=31155"},"modified":"2018-10-27T12:21:58","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T06:51:58","slug":"nia-expands-khalistan-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/nia-expands-khalistan-probe\/","title":{"rendered":"NIA expands Khalistan probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/nia-expands-khalistan-probe\/article22801101.ece\"><b>NIA expands Khalistan probe<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has expanded its investigation into the <\/span><b>revival of the pro-Khalistan movement in Punjab <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to countries such as the <\/span><b>U.K., Australia, the UAE, Italy and Pakistan.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Background:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On November 30<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 2017, the Home Ministry handed over the probe into the <\/span><b>murder of RSS member Ravinder Gosain in Ludhiana to the NIA.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agency said Gosain\u2019s murder and targeted killings of eight others from January 2016 were part of a conspiracy to <\/span><b>destabilise Punjab hatched by Sikh extremist elements and others located in various parts of the world.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Punjab police had arrested the accused and were handed over to the NIA for their alleged role in Gosain\u2019s murder.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agency said the accused were asked to <\/span><b>target members of the RSS and Hindu organisations.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The accused were brainwashed and were incited on <\/span><b>religious grounds by their mentors settled abroad.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Foreign funds:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NIA said funds were channelled from <\/span><b>foreign countries for execution of these incidents.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>11 arrested so far:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On February 14, the NIA arrested an accused identified as Parvez, alias Farru, from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parvez provided the <\/span><b>weapons in several of the eight incidents<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> committed as part of an international conspiracy whose objective was to <\/span><b>destabilize the law and order situation in Punjab and to revive militancy in the State.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So far <\/span><b>11 persons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been arrested.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NIA expands Khalistan probe Context: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has expanded its investigation into the revival of the pro-Khalistan movement in Punjab to countries such as the U.K., Australia, the UAE, Italy and Pakistan.
