{"id":31161,"date":"2018-10-27T12:25:03","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T06:55:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=31161"},"modified":"2018-10-27T12:25:03","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T06:55:03","slug":"rajasthan-to-come-up-with-vision-document-on-nutrition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/rajasthan-to-come-up-with-vision-document-on-nutrition\/","title":{"rendered":"Rajasthan to come up with vision document on nutrition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-national\/rajasthan-to-come-up-with-vision-document-on-nutrition\/article22802340.ece\"><b>Rajasthan to come up with vision document on nutrition<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Nutrition Mission will be implemented in 24 of the 33 districts of Rajasthan<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is in news?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rajasthan is gearing up for implementation of the National Nutrition Mission with a State Vision Document-2022<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The document is being formulated to ensure convergence of work by all stakeholders for improving nutrition levels of women and children and reducing undernutrition and low birth weight by 2% each year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>About National Nutrition Mission (NNM):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 10 crore people in the country are expected to benefit from the NNM<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mission has set the target to reduce stunting from 38.4% as per the National Family Health Survey-4 to 25% by 2022.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will cover 235 districts in 2018-19 and the remaining districts in the next two years.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>About NNM in Rajasthan<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A multi-sectoral State consultation, <\/span><b>\u201cNourishing Rajasthan-2022\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, has thrown light on the strategies for addressing the issue of under-nutrition and stunting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NNM will be implemented in implemented in <\/span><b>24 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the 33 districts in Rajasthan<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 24 districts in the State have been selected on the basis of their previous track record and a number of indicators as well as empirical evidence which depicts a high degree of malnutrition among women and children.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions will be made in Rajasthan in the realms of women and child development, health, food and public distribution, sanitation, drinking water, rural development, livelihoods, education and agriculture.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UN body would extend help and render assistance at all levels to make NNM a success<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What are the key system-level barriers in Rajasthan which need to be addressed?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lack of knowledge among the frontline health workers,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poor use of communication and counselling aids<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Limited efforts for complementary feeding to newborn babies<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rajasthan to come up with vision document on nutrition Context: National Nutrition Mission will be implemented in 24 of the 33 districts of Rajasthan What is in news?
