This leads to stubble burning as the quickest way to clear the fields, contributing heavily to air pollution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Water Consumption<\/strong>: PUSA-44 also has high water requirements, exacerbating groundwater depletion in water-scarce regions like Punjab and Haryana.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Punjab government has banned<\/strong> Pusa-44 for the current crop year due to concerns over stubble burning.
