{"id":31204,"date":"2018-10-27T12:32:17","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T07:02:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=31204"},"modified":"2018-10-27T12:32:17","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T07:02:17","slug":"slowly-but-surely-ai-use-is-rising-across-industries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/slowly-but-surely-ai-use-is-rising-across-industries\/","title":{"rendered":"Slowly, but surely, AI use is rising across industries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Industry\/slowly-but-surely-ai-use-is-rising-across-industries\/article22790867.ece\"><b>Slowly, but surely, AI use is rising across industries<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been subjected to debates including concerns around <\/span><b>machines overtaking, or even replacing, the human workforce.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Expanding boundaries through Artificial Intelligence(AI):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the IDC Cognitive User Adoption Survey (2017), an overwhelming majority of <\/span><b>Indian organisations (nearly 70%) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 have either adopted or have plans to leverage cognitive capabilities in the next 18 months. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, <\/span><b>one in five organisations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has already deployed cognitive systems.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The telecom, technology and banking industries are frontrunners in adoption. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>State Bank of India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recently announced plans to leverage AI for its integrated platform, YONO (You Only Need One). <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>healthcare industry<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> relies on AI to fine tune the accuracy of medical predictions, and accordingly choose a fitting line of treatment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Retail <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is another, and more obvious industry, where AI has found a strong foothold. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>E-commerce firms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> depend on AI tools to detect malpractices, improve conversion ratios and foresee consumer buying patterns. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Challenges faced by Artificial Intelligence(AI):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the biggest roadblocks in the active adoption of AI is the <\/span><b>sheer scarcity of skilled professionals. <\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further, since the skillset of a data scientist needs to constantly evolve along with technology, the <\/span><b>demand-supply gap is only growing further.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Conclusion:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, industries are expected to <\/span><b>experience more AI use <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cases in the near future \u2014 from digital shopping assistants in retail to carefully curated teams in sports, and factory automation systems in manufacturing.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Slowly, but surely, AI use is rising across industries Context: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been subjected to debates including concerns around machines overtaking, or even replacing, the human workforce.
