{"id":31284,"date":"2018-10-27T12:59:03","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T07:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=31284"},"modified":"2018-10-27T12:59:03","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T07:29:03","slug":"india-initiates-review-of-anti-dumping-duty-on-chinese-steel-wheel-imports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-initiates-review-of-anti-dumping-duty-on-chinese-steel-wheel-imports\/","title":{"rendered":"India initiates review of anti-dumping duty on Chinese steel wheel imports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Economy\/india-initiates-review-of-anti-dumping-duty-on-chinese-steel-wheel-imports\/article22754903.ece\"><b>India initiates review of anti-dumping duty on Chinese steel wheel imports<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India has initiated a <\/span><b>review of the anti-dumping duty <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on flat base steel wheels from China.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Background:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India had in <\/span><b>2013 imposed duty up to $613 per tonne on import of the product<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from China for five years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per the <\/span><b>World Trade Organisation,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if a company exports a product at a price lower than the price it normally charges on its own home market, it is said to be <\/span><b>\u201cdumping\u201d the product.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The<\/b><b> review investigation:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Directorate General of Anti-dumping and allied Duties (DGAD) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has initiated the review investigation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The move comes in the backdrop of <\/span><b>India\u2019s huge trade deficit with China ($51.1 billion in FY\u201917).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Authority (DGAD) has considered the <\/span><b>period of October, 2016 to September, 2017 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as the period of investigation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It seeks to examine whether the<\/span><b> expiry of such duty is likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury to the domestic (Indian) industry.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India initiates review of anti-dumping duty on Chinese steel wheel imports Context: India has initiated a review of the anti-dumping duty on flat base steel wheels from China.
