Why in news?<\/h2>\n

Recently, the Opening Ceremony of MALABAR 2024 under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command was held\u00a0onboard Indian Naval Ship\u00a0Satpura<\/em> at Visakhapatnam.<\/p>\n

About MALABAR maritime exercise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

About<\/td>\n1. This is the 28th edition of the MALABAR maritime exercise.
\n2. It was initiated in 1992 as a bilateral exercise between India and the United States. Japan and Australia later joined, making it a multi-national maritime engagement.
\n3. It supports India’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
\n4. It also reflects India\u2019s growing engagement with like-minded nations to strengthen regional security.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Duration<\/td>\nThe exercise started on October 8, 2024, and will continue until October 18, 2024.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Atendee<\/td>\nCrew and planning staff from participating nations\u2019 ships, aircraft, and Special Forces.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objective<\/td>\nEnhance understanding, collaboration, and engagement to address common maritime challenges.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Key features<\/td>\nIt would be conducted two Phases, both at the harbor and at sea.
\nKey Drills includes live weapon firings, complex surface, anti-air, and anti-submarine warfare drills, and joint maneuvers.
\nAsset Participation involves destroyers, frigates, corvettes, fleet support ships, long-range maritime patrol aircraft, jet aircraft, helicopters, and submarines.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
