{"id":31317,"date":"2018-10-27T13:06:30","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T07:36:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=31317"},"modified":"2018-10-27T13:06:30","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T07:36:30","slug":"colleges-that-perform-well-can-apply-for-autonomy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/colleges-that-perform-well-can-apply-for-autonomy\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Colleges that perform well can apply for autonomy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/colleges-that-perform-well-can-apply-for-autonomy\/article22745164.ece\"><b>\u2018Colleges that perform well can apply for autonomy<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colleges that perform well will now be able to apply for autonomous status, which will permit them to start new courses and programmes, set syllabi and even \u201cfix fees for courses at their own level\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Introduction:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University Grants Commission has notified guidelines for this change.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The colleges will continue to be affiliated to the university but will enjoy autonomy to take their own decisions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Autonomous status will initially be granted for 10 years, but can be extended for five years at a time.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Eligibility criteria:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To be eligible for such autonomy, the colleges must have been given \u2018A\u2019 grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, which means a Cumulative Grade Points Average of at least 3 on a scale of 4.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Reservation policies<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reservation policies will apply to these colleges too.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Own faculty:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Such colleges will also have the right to appoint their own faculty and principal as per existent UGC regulations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Colleges that perform well can apply for autonomy Context: Colleges that perform well will now be able to apply for autonomous status, which will permit them to start new courses and programmes, set syllabi and even \u201cfix fees for courses at their own level\u201d.
