{"id":31347,"date":"2018-10-27T13:13:35","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T07:43:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=31347"},"modified":"2018-10-27T13:13:35","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T07:43:35","slug":"india-oman-agree-to-isolate-sponsors-of-terror","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-oman-agree-to-isolate-sponsors-of-terror\/","title":{"rendered":"India, Oman agree to isolate sponsors of terror"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-international\/india-oman-agree-to-isolate-sponsors-of-terror\/article22735889.ece\"><b>India, Oman agree to isolate sponsors of terror<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the External Affairs Ministry stated that India and Oman have agreed to isolate the sponsors of international terrorism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Battling Terrorism:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The declaration on battling terrorism came at the end of Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s visit to Oman<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both the countries acknowledged that there was an \u201cinter-linkage\u201d between the stability of the Gulf region and the Indian subcontinent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two sides also emphasised the need to isolate the sponsors and supporters of terrorism and agreed that the international community should take urgent action against all such entities, which support terrorism and use it as an instrument of policy<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Eight MoUs Signed:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agreement on legal and judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agreement on mutual visa exemption of holders of diplomatic, special, service and official passports<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MoU on cooperation in the field of health<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MoU for cooperation on the peaceful uses of outer space<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MoU on cooperation between Foreign Service Institute, Indian Ministry of External Affairs and Oman Diplomatic Institute<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MoU on academic and scholarly cooperation between national Defence College, Sultanate of Oman and the Institute of Defence studies and Analyses<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MoU on the field of tourism cooperation between the two countries<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Annexure to the MoU on military cooperation<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Strategic Oil Reserve<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prime Minister Modi also informed Oman\u2019s ruler about the strategic oil reserve that India plans to build and invited Oman to participate in the project.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Omani side briefed India about its own strategic oil reserve project in Ras Markaz near the port of Duqm.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India, Oman agree to isolate sponsors of terror Context: Recently, the External Affairs Ministry stated that India and Oman have agreed to isolate the sponsors of international terrorism.
