(GSL) launched two new Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) named &#8216;Adamya&#8217; and &#8216;Akshar&#8217; for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).<\/p>\n<h2>About Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs)<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 465px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/PIC36H4B.jpeg?resize=465%2C310&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"465\" height=\"310\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>1. These vessels were constructed with over 60% indigenous content. It is aligned with India\u2019s mission towards self-reliance in defence also known as `Aatmanirbharta`.<\/p>\n<p>2. The vessels are part of a contract signed between GSL and the Indian Coast Guard for the construction of eight FPVs.<\/p>\n<p>3. For the first time, two vessels were launched simultaneously using a state-of-the-art Ship Lift System.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Roles and Responsibilities of FPVs:<\/strong> The primary missions of these FPVs include the protection, monitoring, control, and surveillance of offshore assets and island territories, enhancing India\u2019s maritime security capabilities.<\/p>\n<h2>Features of FPVs<\/h2>\n<p>1. Each FPV is 52 meters in length and 8 meters in breadth, capable of reaching a maximum speed of 27 knots.<\/p>\n<p>2. They are equipped with a Controllable Pitch Propeller-based propulsion system and have a displacement of 320 tons.<\/p>\n<p>3.
