Why in news?<\/h2>\n

Recently,\u00a0Indian Army personnel departed for Cijantung, Jakarta, Indonesia, to participate in the 9th edition of the India-Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise GARUD SHAKTI 24.<\/p>\n

Duration<\/td>\n1st to 12th November 2024<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Participants<\/td>\nIndian Contingent involving 25 personnel from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and Indonesian Contingent involving 40 personnel from the Indonesian Special Forces Kopassus.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objective<\/td>\ni) Enhance Cooperation and Interoperability:<\/strong> Strengthen mutual understanding, cooperation, and interoperability between Indian and Indonesian Special Forces.
\nii) Exchange of Best Practices:<\/strong> Share information on weaponry, equipment, innovations, tactics, techniques, and procedures.
\niii) Cultural Exchange:<\/strong> Gain insights into each other\u2019s culture and lifestyle to foster stronger military cooperation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Activities and Training Focus<\/td>\ni) Special Operations Training:<\/strong> Planning and executing special operations and advancing special forces skills.
\nii) Joint Tactical Exercises:<\/strong> Conducting joint tactical drills, including special Forces operations in jungle terrain, Simulated strikes on terrorist camps and a Validation Exercise integrating basic and advanced special forces skills<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Significance<\/td>\ni) Strengthening Bilateral Relations:<\/strong> This exercise enhances military cooperation and strengthens bonds between the Indian and Indonesian armies.
\nii) Shared Security Objectives:<\/strong> It provides a platform to work towards common security goals.
\niii) Skill Development and Exchange:<\/strong> It offers an opportunity to share expertise and best practices in special forces operations.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
