Why in news?<\/h2>\n

Recently, India and Algeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their bilateral defence partnership. The MoU aims to foster mutual understanding and enhance strategic interests.<\/p>\n

1. This agreement is part of a broader endeavor to deepen India-Algeria relations, enhancing diplomatic, military, and strategic ties between the two nations. India-Algeria Defence Cooperation Pact Signed<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Areas of Cooperation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

i) Military Training and Knowledge Sharing:<\/strong> Emphasis on training and experience-sharing between the Indian Armed Forces and the Algerian People\u2019s National Army.<\/p>\n

ii) Defence Production and Technology:<\/strong> Support for India’s \u2018Make in India\u2019 and \u2018Make for the World\u2019 initiatives, enabling joint production and technology transfer.<\/p>\n

iii) Space Science Collaboration:<\/strong> Enhanced cooperation in space sciences and technology, with India sharing advancements in this sector.<\/p>\n

3. Reopening of Defence Wings:<\/strong> India has re-established its Defence Wing in Algeria, with Algeria planning to reopen its Defence Wing in India, strengthening institutional collaboration.<\/p>\n

4. Shared Strategic Vision:<\/strong> Both countries reaffirm their commitment to peaceful resolutions to conflicts, respect for sovereignty, and support in multilateral settings, rooted in their shared history through the Non-Aligned Movement.<\/p>\n

5. Regional and Global Cooperation:<\/strong> India and Algeria, as influential countries in South Asia and North Africa, aim to promote a multipolar world, contributing to a balanced global order.<\/p>\n
