Why in news?<\/h2>\n

Recently, Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs unveiled the “EV as a Service” initiative by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Delhi. This program is a strategic step towards promoting electric mobility in government offices across India.<\/p>\n

About the Programme<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

1. Initiative by:\u00a0<\/strong> Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).<\/p>\n

2. This program is a major step in promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption across government sectors, including central and state government ministries, Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), and institutions.<\/p>\n

3. Objective:<\/strong> To facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Central and State Government ministries, departments, Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), and government institutions.<\/p>\n

4. Goal:<\/strong> Aiming to deploy 5,000 electric cars in government sectors within the next two years.<\/p>\n

5. It is designed to meet the increasing demand for EVs in the government sector, the \u2018EV as a Service\u2019 program aims to deploy 5,000 electric cars over the next two years.<\/p>\n

6. The program\u2019s flexible procurement model enables government offices to select various makes and models of EVs that best suit their operational needs, aligning with India\u2019s long-term goal of net zero emissions by 2070.<\/p>\n

7. This initiative supports environmental sustainability and also helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels, enhances India\u2019s energy security, and reduces carbon emissions.<\/p>\n
