{"id":31585,"date":"2018-10-27T14:51:26","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T09:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=31585"},"modified":"2018-10-27T14:51:26","modified_gmt":"2018-10-27T09:21:26","slug":"data-safety-few-firms-ready","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/data-safety-few-firms-ready\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Data safety: few firms ready"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Economy\/too-few-prepared-for-gdpr\/article22612475.ece\">\u2018Data safety: few firms ready<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With less than four months to go for the EU\u2019s General\u00a0Data Protection\u00a0Regulation to kick in, \u201ctoo many companies are still not prepared\u201d for the regime that would also cover Indian IT firms, according to a global survey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Only 33% have plans to comply with the EU rule: EY survey<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAsked to describe their company\u2019s current status with respect to complying with the GDPR, only 33% of respondents said that they have a plan, while 39% said they are not familiar with GDPR,\u201d according to EY\u2019s Global Forensic Data Analytics Survey 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GDPR<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An initiative to unify data protection laws across the EU, GDPR would apply to all firms, regardless of their location, that process personal data of people living in the EU<\/li>\n<li>Once in force, the GDPR would require companies to notify a data breach within 72 hours of the event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u2018Minimum \u20ac20 mn fine\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Violators could be fined up to 4% of annual global turnover or \u20ac20 million, whichever is greater, according to the report<\/p>\n<p><strong>New risks<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to the survey titled \u2018How can you disrupt risk in an era of digital transformation?\u2019, corporate India\u2019s journey toward digital transformation has introduced new risks, especially around managing data, over the last two years<\/li>\n<li>As many as 70% of Indian respondents see data protection and data privacy compliance as increasing areas of concern; while 46% are worried about cyber breach and insider threats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The role of advanced Forensic Data Analytics and emerging technologies would continue to be pivotal to mitigate escalating digital threats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Data safety: few firms ready Context With less than four months to go for the EU\u2019s General\u00a0Data Protection\u00a0Regulation to kick in, \u201ctoo many companies are still not prepared\u201d for the regime that would also cover Indian IT firms, according to a global survey.
