Why in the News?<\/h2>\n

The Centre recently launched an initiative called Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR). It aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 to promote research in universities<\/span>, particularly<\/span> in central and state public institutions,<\/span>\u00a0through a<\/span> hub and spoke<\/span> model<\/span>.<\/p>\n

About Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR)<\/h2>\n

It is an initiative of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)<\/a>, set\u00a0up under the ANRF Act 2023, to promote a research culture across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Objective<\/strong><\/td>\nTo boost research in universities<\/span> with potential but limited research experience. It is done by pairing them with top-tier institutions for mentorship<\/span> and offering significant funding.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Criteria<\/strong><\/td>\nHub institution<\/strong>– In the first phase, the Hub institutions will include the top 25 NIRF-ranked institutions<\/span> and Institutions of National Importance ranked 26-50 in NIRF<\/span><\/span>.
\nSpoke institutions<\/strong>– It will consist of Central<\/span> and State Public Universities<\/span> , along with selected NITs<\/span> and IIITs<\/span>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Funding<\/strong><\/td>\n1.<\/strong> Maximum funding<\/span> for each network is \u20b9100 crore<\/span>.
\n2.<\/strong> The budget is split between hub and spoke institutions in a 30:70 ratio<\/span>.<\/span>
\n3.<\/strong> If a private institution<\/span> is the hub, it must allocate 25% of its budget<\/span> to the spoke institutions.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
