He later met <strong><em>Khwaja Usman Harooni<\/em><\/strong>, a Sufi master, <strong><em>who became his mentor.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>After years of spiritual training, Moinuddin was initiated into the Chishti order and set on his own path.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Journey in India<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He arrived in Delhi Sultanate during the reign of the sultan Iltutmish.<\/li>\n<li>After Muizuddin Muhammad bin Sam defeated Prithviraj Chauhan in the Second Battle of Tarain (1192) and established rule in Delhi,<strong><em> Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti began living and preaching in Ajmer.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Chishti Order (Chishtiya):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Chishti order was founded in the 10th century by <strong><em>Abu Ishaq Shami<\/em><\/strong> in the town of Chisht near Herat in Afghanistan.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>In India<\/em><\/strong>, Chishtiya Order was <em><strong>founded by<\/strong> Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Chistis <strong><em>renounced material possessions<\/em><\/strong> as distractions from focusing on God and avoided involvement with the secular state.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Disciples of Khwaja Moin-Uddin Chishti<\/strong><\/em>, like Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki, Fareeduddin Ganj-e-Shakar, Nizamuddin Auliya, and Naseeruddin Charagh, spread and popularized Chishti teachings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Other major Sufi Orders in India:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Suhrawardi Order:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It was<strong><em> established in India<\/em><\/strong> by <strong><em>Sheikh Bahauddin Zakariya<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Unlike the Chishti saints, the Suhrawardis <strong><em>maintained close ties with the state<\/em><\/strong>. They accepted gifts, jagirs from sultans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Naqshbandi Order:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>In India,<\/em> <\/strong>this order was <strong><em>established by Khwaja Bahauddin Naqshbandi<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>From the beginning, this Order&#8217;s mystics stressed the Shariat&#8217;s observance and denounced all innovations or biddat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Qadri order<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This order was <strong><em>popular in Punjab<\/em><\/strong> and founded in the 14th century by <strong><em>Sheikh Abdul Qadir of Badaun.<\/em> <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Sheikh Abdul Qadir and his sons were <strong><em>supporters of the Mughals under Akbar. <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: An Ajmer court recently accepted a petition by the Hindu Sena, which claims that a\u00a0 Shiva temple lies beneath the Ajmer Sharif dargah.
