{"id":32498,"date":"2018-10-29T15:05:31","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T09:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=32498"},"modified":"2018-10-29T15:05:31","modified_gmt":"2018-10-29T09:35:31","slug":"centre-sets-up-gom-on-sexual-harassment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/centre-sets-up-gom-on-sexual-harassment\/","title":{"rendered":"Centre sets up GoM on sexual harassment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/centre-sets-up-gom-on-sexual-harassment\/article25316405.ece\">Centre sets up GoM on sexual harassment<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Central Government has established a Group of Ministers (GoM) to recommend measures to tackle sexual harassment at the workplace.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>The GoM will come up with a<strong> comprehensive plan within three months<\/strong> and devise ways to ensure its time-bound implementation.<\/li>\n<li>GoM will also recommend measures to<strong> strengthen the legal and institutional framework <\/strong>regarding sexual misconduct in response to the<strong> #MeToo campaign <\/strong>effectively implement the law against sexual harassment at the workplace.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other measures to tackle sexual harassment: <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>The Women and Child Development Ministry (<strong>MoWCD<\/strong>) has also launched an <strong>electronic complaints box<\/strong> (\u2018<strong>SHe-Box<\/strong>\u2019)that enables women to bring to light any complaints of sexual harassment at workplace.<\/li>\n<li>A complaint is submitted to the \u2018<strong>SHe-Box<\/strong>\u2019, is directly sent to the concerned authority having jurisdiction to take action into the matter and a monitoring mechanism is put in place to regularly monitor the action taken on the complaints.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Justice Verma Committee: <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29343\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/highlights.jpg?resize=465%2C358&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"465\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/highlights.jpg?w=465&amp;ssl=1 465w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/highlights.jpg?resize=150%2C115&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/highlights.jpg?resize=300%2C231&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Data: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to data by MoWCD, only 500 complaints of sexual harassment of women at the workplace in India were registered every year, over the last few years.<\/li>\n<li>In total, only 2164 complaints had been registered all over India since 2015.<\/li>\n<li>The largest number of complaints (since 2015) were registered in Uttar Pradesh, with a total of 627 complaints, while Delhi saw the second highest number of complaints being registered, at a total of 314.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Centre sets up GoM on sexual harassment News: The Central Government has established a Group of Ministers (GoM) to recommend measures to tackle sexual harassment at the workplace.
