{"id":32517,"date":"2018-10-29T15:09:53","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T09:39:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=32517"},"modified":"2018-11-17T14:19:33","modified_gmt":"2018-11-17T08:49:33","slug":"army-set-to-create-new-positions-as-part-of-overhaul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/army-set-to-create-new-positions-as-part-of-overhaul\/","title":{"rendered":"Army set to create new positions as part of overhaul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/army-set-to-create-new-positions-as-part-of-overhaul\/article25326814.ece\">Army set to create new positions as part of overhaul<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Army is set to begin its biggest reform exercise since independence to rightsize the force and reduce its mounting revenue expenditure.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>The reform exercise is likely to see creation of<strong>\u00a0new positions,<\/strong> namely:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Third Deputy Chief of Army Staff<\/li>\n<li>Director General of Strategic Communications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Other key changes included in the reform exercise:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs)<\/li>\n<li>Shifting the Director General Military Training in the Army HQ to the Army\u2019s Training Command at Shimla.<\/li>\n<li>Reorganising several overlapping divisions at the Army HQ.<\/li>\n<li>Rightsizing the force over the next 6-8 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>The Directorate of Strategic Communications, and the existing Directorates of Military Operations and Military Intelligence, are likely to be moved under a new Deputy Chief of Army Staff.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Four expert studies<\/strong> were carried out for the overhaul of Army as:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>The restructuring of Army Headquarters (HQ)<\/li>\n<li>Cutting down the strength<\/li>\n<li>Cadre review of officers<\/li>\n<li>Review of terms and conditions of Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks (OR)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>The<strong> focus of the studies<\/strong> is holistic integration to enhance the operational and functional efficiency, optimise budget expenditure, facilitate force modernisation and address aspirations.<\/li>\n<li>The \u201cstudies\u201d would be implemented progressively in a phased manner.<\/li>\n<li>The Army currently has two Deputy Chiefs, one for information systems and training and another for planning and systems.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Army set to create new positions as part of overhaul News: The Army is set to begin its biggest reform exercise since independence to rightsize the force and reduce its mounting revenue expenditure.
