{"id":32597,"date":"2018-10-29T15:30:39","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T10:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=32597"},"modified":"2018-11-21T16:00:19","modified_gmt":"2018-11-21T10:30:19","slug":"india-france-in-talks-to-conduct-tri-service-exercise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-france-in-talks-to-conduct-tri-service-exercise\/","title":{"rendered":"India, France in talks to conduct tri-service exercise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-national\/india-france-in-talks-to-conduct-tri-service-exercise\/article25232174.ece\">India, France in talks to conduct tri-service exercise<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her visit to France discuss for a bilateral tri-service military exercise and to operationalise the logistics agreement between two countries.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important facts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Bilateral tri-service military exercise between two countries will be India\u2019s third such joint exercise.<\/li>\n<li>The first joint tri-service exercise was held with Russia in October last year and has finalised one with the U.S. to be held next year.<\/li>\n<li>India and France currently hold bilateral exercises between individual services \u2014 Shakti, Varuna and Garuda respectively for the Army, Navy and Air Force.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Logistic Agreement<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>India and France signed a logistics pact in March this year which gives access to their militaries to each other\u2019s bases for logistics support.<\/li>\n<li>The agreement gives India access to French military bases all over the world on a \u201creciprocal basis,\u201d<\/li>\n<li>This gives India access to the three French bases in the Indian Ocean \u2014 Reunion Island, Djibouti and Abu Dhabi.<\/li>\n<li>These three bases would give the Indian Navy and the Air Force operational turnaround to the far end of the Indian Ocean, improving its monitoring and surveillance of the region, in the backdrop of increased Chinese presence in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).<\/li>\n<li>During her visit defence minister discussed \u201chow to operationalise it and make it happen.\u201d With her counterpart.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India, France in talks to conduct tri-service exercise News: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her visit to France discuss for a bilateral tri-service military exercise and to operationalise the logistics agreement between two countries.
