Sudan virus causes severe hemorrhagic fever with a high fatality rate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transmission:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Spread through <strong>direct contact<\/strong> with blood, bodily fluids, or contaminated materials.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Healthcare settings<\/strong> with poor infection control are high-risk areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diagnosis:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Requires <strong>laboratory testing<\/strong> (PCR tests or antigen detection tests).<\/li>\n<li>Early isolation is critical even before confirmation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Treatment &amp; Vaccines:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>No specific vaccine<\/strong> or antiviral treatment is approved for the Sudan virus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Phase 1 vaccine trial<\/strong> is underway for the virus.<\/li>\n<li>Supportive care: <strong>Fluid replacement, fever management, pain relief<\/strong>, and treatment of co-infections.<\/li>\n<li>Experimental <strong>vaccine candidates<\/strong> and <strong>monoclonal antibody treatments<\/strong> are under development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Control Measures:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Contact tracing<\/strong>, <strong>isolation<\/strong>, and <strong>infection prevention protocols<\/strong> are the most effective containment tools.<\/li>\n<li>Weak healthcare systems and poor infection control accelerate transmission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Climate Change Impact:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Climate change<\/strong> is influencing the <strong>spread of infectious diseases<\/strong>, including Sudan virus and other hemorrhagic fevers.<\/li>\n<li>Mosquito-borne diseases like <strong>malaria, dengue, and yellow fever<\/strong> are also spreading to new regions, including Europe and North America.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Ugandan government and the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed a new Sudan virus disease (SVD) outbreak in February 2025.
