Key Highlights of the Recent India-Qatar Bilateral Engagement
\nTrade Expansion- <\/strong>Both nations have set an ambitious goal to double bilateral trade from $14 billion to $28 billion by 2030. India and Qatar have also agreed to double bilateral trade by 2030 and explore a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
\nFinancial & Economic Collaboration-<\/strong>\u00a0India and Qatar have signed a Revised Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement to prevent fiscal evasion. Further, there will be operationalization of UPI in QNB\u2019s Points of Sales in Qatar.

Political Significance-\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Qatar’s membership in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)<\/span> is politically significant for India, especially concerning issues like Kashmir. Also, India needs support of Qatar for UNSC permanent membership<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Energy Security-\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Qatar is the largest supplier of LNG to India. LNG makes up almost 50% of our LNG imports.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Strong economic and trade ties- <\/strong>India is among the top four largest export destinations<\/span> for Qatar (Qatar exports to India- LNG, LPG, chemicals and petrochemicals, fertilisers, plastics).
