{"id":32763,"date":"2018-10-29T16:20:13","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T10:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=32763"},"modified":"2018-10-29T16:20:13","modified_gmt":"2018-10-29T10:50:13","slug":"no-trial-in-sewer-death-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/no-trial-in-sewer-death-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018No trial in sewer death cases\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/no-trial-in-sewer-death-cases\/article25126223.ece\">\u2018No trial in sewer death cases\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>News<\/strong>:s<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Report released on Manual Scavenging by an NGO Rashtriya Garima Abhiyan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Study has been conducted by the NGO on the death due to sewer and septic tank cleaning since 1992.<\/li>\n<li>It covered a sample group of 97 deaths in 51 incidents across 11 States<\/li>\n<li><strong>Important findings:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>First Information Reports (FIR) were filed in only 35% of the cases.<\/li>\n<li>Only 31% of affected families received cash compensation.<\/li>\n<li>Affected families has not received the rehabilitation or alternative jobs.<\/li>\n<li>Few of them were denied death certificate.<\/li>\n<li>Though the Government has provided toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, it has failed to take into the account the responsibility of cleaning septic tanks.<\/li>\n<li>In some cases, there was no acknowledgement of a death.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Safai Karamchari Finance and Development Corporation will be spreading awareness about Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018No trial in sewer death cases\u2019 News:s Report released on Manual Scavenging by an NGO Rashtriya Garima Abhiyan.
