Some species are native to <strong>India, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Physical Characteristics:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Civets have <strong>long bodies and short legs<\/strong>, making them resemble cats in appearance.<\/li>\n<li>They possess <strong>thickly furred tails, small ears, and pointed snouts<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Their fur color is typically <strong>buff or grayish<\/strong>, often marked with <strong>black spots, stripes, or both<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>They are <strong>mostly solitary animals<\/strong> and prefer to live in <strong>tree hollows, rocky areas, and other sheltered locations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>They are primarily <strong>nocturnal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>They are <strong>omnivorous.<\/strong> Certain species, such as the palm civets, have a particular fondness for palm juice, which has earned them the nickname &#8220;toddy cats.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conservation Status:<\/strong> Several species of civets are<strong> endangered<\/strong> according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.\n<ul>\n<li>Among the most threatened are the <strong>Malabar civet (Viverra civettina), which is native to India\u2019s Western Ghats,<\/strong> and the <strong>Sunda otter civet (Cynogale bennetti), which inhabits the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: solid;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<h2>About Malabar Civet<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Malabar Civet is a nocturnal and elusive animal.
