1. Economic Empowerment-<\/strong>\u00a0Economic empowerment means having\u00a0equal access to work opportunities<\/span>\u00a0and ensuring their participation in all kinds of markets. This will help women break down all the barriers of inequality and defy traditional roles.<\/p>\n

2. Political Empowerment-<\/strong>\u00a0Political empowerment means women having\u00a0equal access to leadership role\u00a0in the political sphere. It also gives\u00a0increased strength to women\u2019s right voices<\/span>\u00a0and issues in the political sphere.<\/p>\n

Unequal employment opportunities-<\/strong>\u00a0Globally, the\u00a0gender gap in labour force participation\u00a0has been around\u00a030% since 1990<\/span>, with men\u2019s participation at around 80% and women\u2019s at 50%. Women also experience \u2018motherhood penalty\u2018 with reduction in employment opportunities for women having babies.<\/p>\n

2. Employment in informal and vulnerable sectors-<\/strong>\u00a0According to research by UN Women, nearly\u00a060% of women\u2019s employment globally\u00a0is in the\u00a0informal economy<\/span>. In low income countries it is as high as 90%.<\/p>\n

3. Lack of pay parity-<\/strong>\u00a0Women are paid less than men. The\u00a0gender wage gap\u00a0is estimated to be\u00a020%. Women face the challenges of\u00a0motherhood wage penalty\u00a0and\u00a0unpaid care works.<\/p>\n

Political Empowerment<\/strong><\/p>\n

Low Representation of Women in Legislature-<\/strong>\u00a0The representation of women in different legislative bodies\u00a0remains low<\/span>\u00a0across India.\u00a0For ex-<\/strong>\u00a0According to the report of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and UN Women, India ranks 148 out of 193 countries in the number of elected female representatives in parliament.<\/p>\n

1. Better Education Opportunities-<\/strong>\u00a0Better implementation of\u00a0New Education Policy<\/span> to ensure the protection of girls right to education\u00a0and their right to be free from discrimination within educational institutions.<\/p>\n

2. Skilling and Micro Financing-\u00a0<\/strong>Training women in non-traditional skills<\/span> in accordance with the market demand, like machine textiles. Also, we need to focus on creating more public and private sector jobs for women.<\/p>\n

3. Women\u2019s Safety-<\/strong>\u00a0There must be strict implementation of\u00a0Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace\u00a0(Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal)\u00a0Act,\u00a02013\u00a0<\/span>to ensure safe working spaces for women. Also\u00a0Panic Button,\u00a0Nirbhaya Police Squad\u00a0are some good steps in the direction of women\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n

5. Improvement in Basic Amenities at Rural Level-\u00a0<\/strong>The improvement in the health and education standards of women in rural areas<\/span> will lead to all round development of women and a\u00a0productive women workforce.<\/p>\n

5. From Women Development to Women Led Development-<\/strong>\u00a0Women should be\u00a0reimagined as architects of India\u2019s progress and development, rather than being passive recipients of the fruits of development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
