However, Lohia\u2019s ideas are often <strong>misused, selectively quoted, or ignored<\/strong> in present-day politics. This article calls for a <strong>true recovery of Lohia<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s ideological and political legacy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Misinterpretation of Lohia<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s Ideology by Present Politics<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>BJP leaders often use <strong>Lohia<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s critiques of Nehru<\/strong> and <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>anti-Congressism\u201d<\/strong> to justify their positions.<\/li>\n<li>However, <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>anti-Congressism\u201d<\/strong> was a <strong>short-term tactic<\/strong>, not a philosophy.<\/li>\n<li>Lohia would have likely supported <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>anti-BJPism\u201d<\/strong> today to oppose the dominant establishment.<\/li>\n<li>His slogan <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>Banish English\u201d<\/strong> is misused to promote <strong>Hindi imposition<\/strong>, while Lohia actually <strong>valued English<\/strong> and used it skillfully.<\/li>\n<li>He opposed the <strong>elitism and class inequality<\/strong> linked with English, not the language itself.<\/li>\n<li>Lohia was a <strong>champion of Indian languages<\/strong>, inspiring writers like <strong>Phanishwar Nath Renu<\/strong>, <strong>U.R. Ananthamurthy<\/strong>, and <strong>Siddalingaiah<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>His support for <strong>backward castes<\/strong> is often distorted to benefit <strong>dominant OBCs<\/strong>, ignoring his emphasis on <strong>Dalits, Adivasis, and women<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>Lohia<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s Inclusive Approach to Social Justice<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Lohia demanded <strong>60% reservation<\/strong> with the slogan <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>pichhada pave sau mein saath.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>For him, <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>pichhada<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong> included <strong>OBCs, Dalits, Adivasis, and women<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He advocated for <strong>intersectionality<\/strong> \u2014 integrating <strong>caste, class, and gender<\/strong> to fight injustice.<\/li>\n<li>He identified <strong>gender injustice<\/strong> as the most foundational among six injustices and proposed <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>saptakranti<\/strong><strong>\u201d (seven revolutions)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Lohia supported <strong>special opportunities<\/strong> for the <strong>Mahadalits<\/strong> among SCs and <strong>Extremely Backward Classes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He aimed to form a <strong>bottom-up social bloc<\/strong> to challenge existing <strong>socio-political hegemony<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>Blending Indian Culture with Socialist Politics<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Lohia redefined cultural figures to fit progressive politics.<\/li>\n<li>He promoted <strong>Draupadi<\/strong> as the ideal Indian woman \u2014 <strong>bold, witty, and independent<\/strong>, contrasting the image of <strong>Sati-Savitri<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He saw <strong>Lord Rama<\/strong> as a symbol of <strong>north-south unity<\/strong> and <strong>Lord Krishna<\/strong> as east-west unity.<\/li>\n<li>He used <strong>rivers like Ganga and Yamuna<\/strong> to symbolize <strong>kartavya (duty)<\/strong> and <strong>rasa (joy)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Drawing from <strong>Nachiketa<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s story in the Ishopanishad<\/strong>, he promoted <strong>kanchanmukti<\/strong> \u2014 freedom from material greed.<\/li>\n<li>Artists like <strong>M.F.
