These moves, though aimed at asserting power, are weakening key pillars of U.S. soft power<\/strong>, which relies on attraction and persuasion rather than coercion.<\/p>\n

What is U.S. Soft Power?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

He criticised Japan<\/strong>\u2019<\/strong>s alliance terms<\/strong>, praised North Korea<\/strong>\u2019<\/strong>s leader<\/strong>, and gave unconditional support to Israel<\/strong> in Gaza. These actions have hurt trust in the U.S., especially in groups like the Quad<\/strong>. They have also reduced support from countries in the Global South<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    2. Cuts to USAID and Global Messaging: USAID<\/strong> had a $35 billion budget<\/strong>, mostly for health, education, and governance, especially in Africa<\/strong>. Under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)<\/strong>, led by Elon Musk<\/strong>, only 17% of USAID programs remain<\/strong>. Cutting USAID has reduced U.S. presence in poor countries.
