is likely to decide on India\u2019s membership request<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wassenaar agreement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The\u00a0Wassenaar Arrangement\u00a0on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies<\/strong>, commonly known as the\u00a0Wassenaar Arrangement, is a multilateral export control regime (MECR) with 41 participating states including many former Comecon (Warsaw Pact) countries<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Participating States of the Wassenaar Arrangement are<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia,\u00a0Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands,\u00a0New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal,\u00a0Republic of Korea, Romania,\u00a0Russian Federation, Slovakia, Slovenia,\u00a0South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine,\u00a0United Kingdom\u00a0and\u00a0United States<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Aim<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Wassenaar Arrangement has been established in order to contribute to regional and international security and stability, by promoting transparency and greater responsibility in transfers of conventional arms and dual-use goods and technologies, thus preventing destabilising accumulations<\/li>\n<li>Participating States seek, through their national policies, to ensure that transfers of these items do not contribute to the development or enhancement of military capabilities which undermine these goals, and are not diverted to support such capabilities<\/li>\n<li>The aim is also to prevent the acquisition of these items by terrorists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back India\u2019s entry into NSG, China told\u00a0 Context Panel to decide the country\u2019s membership to the Wassenaar Arrangement today News Russia is speaking to\u00a0China\u00a0at \u201call levels\u201d for India\u2019s membership at the Nuclear Suppliers Group, and hopes that India will win membership to the Wassenaar Arrangement, another multilateral technology regime India has applied to, Russia\u2019s deputy&hellip;
