The launch, held on the first day of World Immunization Week (April 24\u201330), marks a major step toward India\u2019s goal of <em>eliminating measles and rubella by 2026.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-335107 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/National-Zero-Measles-Rubella-Elimination-Campaign-2025-26.png?resize=576%2C382&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"National Zero Measles-Rubella Elimination Campaign 2025-26\" width=\"576\" height=\"382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/National-Zero-Measles-Rubella-Elimination-Campaign-2025-26.png?resize=300%2C199&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/National-Zero-Measles-Rubella-Elimination-Campaign-2025-26.png?resize=1024%2C680&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/National-Zero-Measles-Rubella-Elimination-Campaign-2025-26.png?resize=768%2C510&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/National-Zero-Measles-Rubella-Elimination-Campaign-2025-26.png?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>About National Zero Measles-Rubella Elimination Campaign 2025-26<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Aim<\/strong>: The campaign aims to achieve 100% immunisation coverage of children against Measles and Rubella, both of which are highly contagious viral infections that can lead to severe complications or even death in children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dosage schedule<\/strong>: <em>Two doses of the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine<\/em> are administered under the <em>Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP)<\/em>\u2014the <em>first at 9\u201312 months and the second at 16\u201324 months of age<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Target areas<\/strong>: The campaign prioritises inclusive and equitable coverage, with a special focus on remote and hard-to-reach areas, urban slums, migratory populations, and regions prone to frequent outbreaks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Progress and Recognition:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Between January and March 2025, 332 districts reported zero measles cases, while 487 districts recorded zero rubella cases.<\/li>\n<li>In 2024, India witnessed a <em>73% reduction in measles cases and a 17% decrease in rubella cases<\/em> compared to the previous year.<\/li>\n<li>For its sustained efforts, India received the <em>Measles and Rubella Champion Award (2024)<\/em> from the Measles and Rubella Partnership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: solid; background-color: #ffffff;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><strong>Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Launched in 1985<\/em>, the UIP is <em>entirely funded by the Government of India<\/em> and is the world\u2019s largest vaccination programme.<\/li>\n<li>It <em>provides protection against<\/em> <em>12 vaccine-preventable diseases<\/em> such as Polio, Measles, Rubella, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Rotavirus, and Hepatitis B.
