{"id":33607,"date":"2018-10-30T13:15:02","date_gmt":"2018-10-30T07:45:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=33607"},"modified":"2018-10-30T13:15:02","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T07:45:02","slug":"govt-may-meld-make-in-india-with-invest-india-says-prabhu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/govt-may-meld-make-in-india-with-invest-india-says-prabhu\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt. may meld Make in India with Invest India, says Prabhu\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/govt-may-meld-make-in-india-with-invest-india-says-prabhu\/article21117141.ece\"><strong>Govt. may meld Make in India with Invest India, says Prabhu<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Context <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Centre mulls new approach to attract more foreign investment in manufacturing<\/p>\n<p><strong>What has happened?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Centre is thinking over a new approach to attract more investment, including from overseas, in manufacturing sector by combining the strengths of its \u2018Make in India (MII)\u2019 &amp; its \u2018Invest India\u2019 initiatives<\/p>\n<p><strong>MII &amp; Invest India<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The MII was unveiled in September 2014 to \u201ctransform India into a global design and manufacturing hub\u201d while \u2018Invest India\u2019 is the government\u2019s investment promotion and facilitation agency envisaged to be the first point of reference for potential investors<\/p>\n<p><strong>What will be &amp; is being done?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Main idea is that manufacturing and exports sectors should get a big boost through measures in the Union Budget. Government willbe identifying 5-6 sectors, and there will be certain incentives for such newly identified manufactured products to help them scale up globally. It is\u00a0 trying to work on a holistic strategy to make India a global manufacturing and export hub<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Making apt changes to Start-upIndia<\/strong>: Start-up India policy was unveiled last January but only 74 start-ups have qualified for tax benefits under it. Measures would be taken by introducing appropriate changes in the Start-up India policy by making it more Start-up friendly<\/li>\n<li>Efforts will be made to <strong>strengthen the State governments\u2019 Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agencies<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>There is a need to hold <strong>regular sector-wise and country-wise round-tables<\/strong> as well as create specific groups using the latest technologies including social media to get quick feedback on policies<\/li>\n<li>While there is already a State-wise ease of doing business rankings, there can be State-wise rankings in areas such as \u2018start-up\u2019- and \u2018tourism\u2019-friendliness<\/li>\n<li>Helping out laggard states will also help because ultimately investment happens at the state-level. Invest India is in the process of identifying the strengths of each State to help them go in for tie-ups with countries that are world leaders in those areas<\/li>\n<li>An exercise has already begun to identify the countries attracting the maximum investment sector-wise, the reasons for the same, as well as efforts to convince those very investors that India can provide better return on their investments and greater efficiency in those sectors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Govt. may meld Make in India with Invest India, says Prabhu\u00a0 Context Centre mulls new approach to attract more foreign investment in manufacturing What has happened?
